Novel versus traditional foods: a guide for Māori and New Zealand businesses

To assist Aotearoa New Zealand food and beverage industries to understand and navigate the novel foods regulatory system to support them in developing high value products that are underpinned by a strong safety programme.

Creation of new industries in the food and beverage sector is increasing. This project will provide guidance on the definition of a 'novel food', the risk assessment process for novel food and the international requirements for toxicological assessment of compounds within these foods.
