POSTPONED: Centre Symposium, Wellington, 1 September, and Workshop on exporting to China, 2 September. NEW Date to be Announced!!!

The Centre’s annual one-day forum is a must for anyone with a professional interest in food safety. See the full programme here.

In session one, chaired by Minister Hon Ayesha Verrall, Centre Chief Scientist Nigel French will begin the day with ‘emerging infectious diseases’.  Dr John Roche, science advisor to MPI, will talk about the food safety risks associated with the drive to environmental sustainability, such as recycled packaging. Our old enemies, Listeria and Campylobacter, will feature high, as usual, in the “track and tracing bad bugs” section.

The forum is book-ended with two special events:  a breakfast for women delegates, chaired by Katherine Rich, and a panel on novel foods, moderated by Kim Hill and recorded for broadcast by RNZ.

There is also a workshop the next day, 2 September, for anyone involved in food and beverage exports to China.  This is organised by the NZ-China Food Protection Network, and is free. See the full programme here.
