The Centre commissioned the Lincoln University Agribusiness and Economics Research Unit to make an independent evaluation of its worth to industry and New Zealand. In this February FoodNZ article (pg. 26), we share the results, including direct quotes by industry people who were interviewed for the qualitative part of the study. We were delighted with their comments and overall endorsement. A conservative estimate of the Centre’s worth, based on case studies from three different food sectors, was $164 million per annum, against an annual government investment of $2.5 million.
